When was the first tesla roadster delivered

Roadsters going any extended period of time without being driven should be set to this mode. This lower-intensity charging cycle reduces battery degradation in comparison to a full charge. This is the mode to use for regularly driven Roadsters.

Performance mode also raises battery temperature to increase power output, much like Ludicrous Mode does on newer Tesla performance cars. Additionally, you can configure scheduled charging to take advantage of cheaper electricity rates for charging at off-peak usage times a feature now common on all electric vehicles. It also reduces the amount of power the car will draw to avoid blowing a breaker, and allows you to enter in an electricity cost so the car can calculate the cost of each charge.

Beyond charging, its most important menus display driving information. They include: energy meter, trip meter, performance statistics, temperature gauges, and a clock. The small space led to a couple of other cleverly hidden features. If you have a passenger, they become your cupholder. A small dock in front of the gear selector features an old-school pin connector for classic handheld Apple devices. Unlike later Tesla vehicles, Roadster does feature a mostly traditional gauge cluster.

There were two versions of the gauge cluster over the years — the first one on Roadster 1. This is a holdover from the original two-speed gearbox planned for the car. On Roadster 2. It tracks how much energy is being discharged to drive or recharged back into the pack during regenerative braking. The gauge cluster also features a very basic digital display with odometer, battery charge level, and estimated range based on energy use from the last 40 miles driven.

The reimagined Roadster caught even the Tesla faithful by surprise -- most assumed the company was planning to focus on Model 3 production for the next few years, in addition to rolling out the electric Semi truck around the end of the decade. Enough time has passed that some may not even remember the first Tesla Roadster , launched all the way back in The original Roadster was built on Lotus-sourced chassis and bodies, which made sense at the time.

When it debuted the Roadster was a pretty ground-breaking vehicle. The base model, the first of four that were produced, featured a range of miles on a full charge and an electric motor that was good for hp and lb-ft of torque. The debut base model and the upgraded Roadster 1.

Roadster 2. The big leap with the first-gen Roadster came with Roadster 2. These later variants also featured slightly revised styling front and back.

By this time the Roadster featured a single-speed BorgWarner transmission, in contrast to the two-speed transmission of the debut model. We were aware that Dan had a Tesla Roadster reservation, which he recently canceled since he won another through Tesla's Referral Program more on that below.

We'll be honest to say that when this video popped up on our feed, we did a double take. For a second, we wondered if Tesla did something crazy and delivered Dan's Roadster ahead of the masses. Of course, that's not the case. Instead, Dan just took delivery of an original Tesla Roadster since he won't get the new one for a few more years. Interestingly, he shared another video about a week ago. Then, he racked up enough referrals to get a free Roadster, so he canceled his original reservation.

During the cancellation process, he learned that he'd have to wait some time for his refund.
