Where to buy sunshine kids car seats

This means that babies and toddlers will not benefit from the enhanced SIP offered by the head support. No lock-off device: There is no built-in lock-off device on the Radian XT.

Some kids may even be able to use it to 60 pounds or beyond. So, just be aware that most kids will probably outgrow the Radian XT by height before they reach the 80 lbs weight limit. Installation Issues : No one carseat is compatible with every vehicle but Radian models have a reputation for being difficult to install in some situations. The Radian XT is no exception.

Having LATCH in the seating position that you intend to use increases your chances of being able to achieve a good, tight installation. Keep in mind that even with LATCH, it may be necessary to switch to a seatbelt installation at some point if your child exceeds the weight limits for the lower anchors.

As per the Radian instruction manual you must switch to a seatbelt installation once the child reaches 48 lbs. However, some vehicle manufacturers Honda, Acura, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Saab require you to switch over to the seatbelt once the child reaches 40 lbs.

The other issue is the amount of room that this seat takes up when installed in the rear-facing position. These plugs are, in my opinion, unreasonably difficult to remove. The cover itself is hand wash and line dry only. Radian XT is an impressive convertible seat. The quality of the construction and the materials is undeniable. The enhanced side-impact protection for forward-facing kids is impressive.

These are NOT flimsy head supports. Also, the slim design makes this seat a good contender for families with smaller vehicles and multiple children although the amount of space that it requires in the rear-facing position can be a problem. I like that the seat can be tethered in the rear-facing position. Thank you for the details. Thank you for the explanation of how to remove plugs to take off seat cover!! I was stumped, but your advice did the trick.

I love my Sunshine Kids seat but just came across and airplane problem. I used it rear-facing for a long, international flight. We had bulkhead seating so there was enough room. The pathway is like a narrow tunnel — I can barely squeeze my hand in but could not unbuckle because it was not wide enough for the flap to fully lift and release.

It took 5 mechanics to take apart the airplane seat itself in order to free the carseat and I had installed TWO seats for my two kids! Not sure how often this happens, but it should be noted that this carseat CANNOT be used rear-facing on an airplane, even with sufficient room such as the bulkhead. Curious if you would 2 years later…. Kecia, did you ever try this seat rear facing in your Accord?

I have the same car and I am considering this seat. Thank you for the helpful review. I would like to add another advantage of the Radian car seat.

Thus, the Radian appears to be less toxic than other commercial car seats. The new XT seems like the headwings would block their view.

Thanks for any advice. I just wanted to point out that the Radianxt has a rear facing weight limit of 45lbs… not 35lbs.

I have been looking for detailed instructions on taking off the cover. My DD peed all over the seat poor girl when her diaper exploded. Thanks again for the help! Love this seat…and it works great on airplane seats. Has there been a conclusion regarding the head support being at the top position vs.

I just purchased the Radian XT and after the seat was installed by a tech, was devastated to see my 10 month olds head nowhere near the head support wings. And to add to my frustration, the tech tried to assure me the additional infant cushioning the flimsy pillow and pad would add all the additional head protection that my baby needed during a side impact.

Needless to say, it made for a very uncomfortable ride home. I found the red buckle between the legs to be impossible to open. My husband could unbluckle it with much force but not easy at all. Tried to contact cumstomer service and received no assistance so we returned ours and got another brand. If a child was leaning forward during impact I could see this being a potential for injury. In the outboard seat behind the passenger seat, I had to have the front passenger seat scooted almost all the way to the front with the back very upright—and no adult I know could sit in it at that point.

However, the tech at SKJP who was very pleasant to talk to said that it was perfectly acceptable for the child restraint to touch the front seats. He also said that it had fit RF in the back of his Prius without any space issues, which surprised me. In the center position, it protruded so far into the front that it really bothered me, acceptable install or no. If we were ready to go FF now, I think this would have been a great seat for our car. Thanks for explaining how to get the seat cover off — your instructions were MUCH better than those in the manual.

It completely left off having to yank the little plugs out of the sides. Okay, this review is great!!! I just ordered the seat and am expecting it later this week. Bought three at the same time and don't regret a thing! Awesome January 16, I needed the slimmest carseats i could buy and these were it. I didn't have a choice about the accessories or ammenities it offered. Fortunate it is highly crash test rated, you can place the seat forward or rear facing, and its an awesome seat.

I hate when buckles are difficult to deal with, and these buckles are great. I needed to squeeze 3 seats in one back seat and these guys made it possible. Pros buckles easy, kids sleep comfortable in them, their heads don't sag because they are at a recline.

I like that they are rear facing at higher weight limit. Great Car Seat! January 5, I love this car seat. It's not quite as nice as the XTSL we have one of those too , but my kids LOVE their new car seats, the straps never twist or get caught up, sooo easy to install, the narrowest seat on the market, not bulky, my daughter loves it. We took at 16 hour car trip each way over Christmas and my Daughter was never uncomfortable.

Can't beat the sale price either! We use this in our Jeep Wrangler 4-door not many seats fit well in this vehicle as well as our Nissan Maxima.

I feel like my child is safe in this seat, as well as comfortable. I like the darker cloth because it won't look dirty or dingy immediately. Pros Can fit 3 across, will be the last car seat we buy, 5-pt harness up to 80 lbs with latch! Solid, long lasting seat December 28, We got an excellent price on these seats from Albee - MUCH lower than several other sites that usually have good prices.

We had a set of Radian 80s prior to this, but had to replace them because we were in a car accident. These seats are very long lasting, as they keep kids safe in 5 point harnesses for a very long time. So we reluctantly had to turn the seat forward-facing before I would have liked. The other issue with the seat is that it is very easy to fasten the chest clip incorrectly. It will still snap close even if only one side of the clip is in the buckle. Not good at all. I'm very diligent about checking it now.

The other issue is that when forward-facing it sits flush with the back of the vehicle seat. On the upside, it means it doesn't protrude very far forward, but on the downside, if you have flush seat belt latches, it's easy for the seat to bump the latch and UNBUCKLE the seat entirely. I have to check the seat every single time I put my son in the car. I'm not sure if this is an issue across all car brands, but if you have a Hyundai, be warned! And yes, I've installed the seat correctly and had it checked by a certified installer.

Put the money towards Britax. This seat just simply isn't worth it. The Sunshine Kids Radian Carseat is a really great carseat. We've had several different carseats now, but this is definitely the nicest.

I had been wanting to buy one for awhile and when my husband was in a car accident and we had to replace the carseat that was in his car we used the insurance money to go towards this seat. I just wish we had bought it earlier so my son could have stayed rear facing longer than he did. He was in a Britax Marathon before, which is also a great seat, but he's a big kid and we had to turn him forward facing at 2 years because he reached the max weight for rear facing in that seat. We could have gone longer if we'd had the Radian.

My son loves this seat though, he says it's very comfortable and it's easy for him to get in and out of. I do think it's difficult to tighten down the straps on this seat though. We purchased the Sunshine Kid's Radian 65 after extensive car seat research. It was highly reccomended to me by several car seat techs and experts.

I love this car seat. My main reason for choosing this seat, was at the time I purchased it, it had some of the highest top slots for the straps on the market. Since most children outgrow thier seat by height before weight, this means you can use it for a longer time. I wanted my boys to be a five-point harness as long as possible, so this was a great benefit to me. It's very slim, so it is an excellent option if you are trying to fit three car seats in a row. My kids have had an easier time buckling this car seat, which is nice when they get a bit older.

They have been unable to un-buckle it, so no safety issue there for us. We have never used it with a child younger than one and half or so. I personally would not use it with an infant. It's not very padded, although my children have never complained about it being uncomfortable.

There are two downsides. The first is that it is extremely heavy. There is no way I would take this seat on a airplane! The second is that I have found that it is very hard to get a good install in certain cars. This is due to where the belt path is located and the large plastic receivers that many seat belts have. This can sometimes be fixed by twisting the seat belt receiver strap, but sometimes even that won't work.

Definitely try it in your car first, if possible. The fabric is sturdy and nice gender nuetral colors. It's an easy to clean suede-like material. If it works in your car, I would highly reccomend this car seat. View more car seats. This product has been discontinued But, there are similar products. Other Car Seats: Average: 4. Write a Review.
