He is a wonderfully nuanced actor. I am giving my vote to Jared Padalecki for his performances of Sam Winchester past, present and no doubt future. He has created a TV character that will live on in TV history forever. Watching him play so many different versions of Sam over 8 seasons has been epic. On a side note, Jared and Jensen both deserve an Emmy because they are both outstanding actors.
Without them there would be no Sam and Dean Winchester and the acting chemistry between them is amazing. I wish there could be a tie. Jensen and Jared are both top performers in Supenatural but Jensen is astounding considering the lack of a compelling storyline he seems to get of late, however he gives it his best and when supernatural finally ends i hope to see him in other shows or films.
No one makes sure Sam is loved and likable, like the writers do with Dean. And he deals with it with class and talent. When Jared does get the gold material, he shines with it.
Every damn time. Both actors are great, but Jared truly delivered in Season 8, not just in the season finale, which was the capper performance for his character this season. Jared was raw and heart-breaking, beautiful and touching. Everything about that scene was perfect, including his chemistry with Jensen, the best acting chemistry on television.
But what really sets Jared apart in the finale is what set Sam apart, with Sam finally finally, being allowed to fall apart, after years and years of holding it together against all rationality. Again, two candidates from Supernatural! So difficult to choose!
When Jared is handed a challenge, he shines, and he even outdid Jensen in the season finale. But Jensen is so consistently amazing.
Why are you making me choose between them?? Jensen Ackles. Jensen has been fantastic for the whole series and he was amazing in Season 8. I loved the Dean-Benny scenes and I think their last scene together was one of the best scenes of Season 8. He was terrifying, yes, notably in a scene where he kills a dog in front of police inspector Robin Griffin Elisabeth Moss , also superb, and probably getting a nomination.
But he could also be tender, as when he strikes up a relationship with an American woman and takes ecstasy with her, or with what seems to be genuine love for his daughter Tui. Agree with our picks?

I love the WB for trying but I wished they had focused more on the strength of their shows and trying to sell them as serious competition.
Supernatural and Jensen Ackles would totally deserve at least a nomination. I think Ian Somerhalder is the best on the show, the way he plays Damon makes this show unique, he deserves Emmy as well!!!

Sadly, the people at the emmy seem to be snobbish when it comes to the horror genre.
He truly is a very talented actor. Jensen deserves an emmy. He is a briiliant actor, and can drama, comedy, action etc. Crossing fingers that he will not be overlooked this time! However, there is always something worth remembering about Jensens acting in every episode!
I have always thought Jensen Ackles was Emmy worthy, as well as the show he plays in. Not many out there can say so much with just the slightest change in expression, is capable of carrying off action, humor, love scenes and convey all the angst and emotions possible without going over the top. I agree completely that they all deserve their due. Jared Padalecki deserves some consideration too for sure.
Supernatural is a true tragic drama about normal people giving their life and more just to help and save others. Just know that us die-hard fans out there will always support you.
Not praised by the big wig assbutts but loved by the people. I could argue Smallville too after 9 seasons deserving some kind of recognition as a show but its isnt really that strong a show so I wont.
Jensen Ackles is the top talent at the CW. His portrayal of Dean Winchester is so terrific, week in and week out, regardless of the episode plot or quality of the writing, and he absolutely deserves an Emmy. The episode itself was great. Jensen Ackles deserves to be nominated. I wish with all my heart that he would get a long overdue nomination. Ian Somerhalder is brilliant.
Yes, the CW is geared for teens. But Ian Somerhalder did a stunning job as Damon Salvatore, which little quirks of the eyebrow and great intonation. He has just gotten better and better. He did win the soap opera digest award. So a primetime emmy nomination is way past due for him. They recognized him back then- he was on NBC.
